Pre-clinical mechanism

Agonist at GHS-R1a and at CD36 in cardiac tissue. Animal models report GH release plus separate, receptor-mediated effects on cardiomyocyte survival under ischaemic conditions.

Key pre-clinical findings

  • Isolated rat heart ischaemia/reperfusion model: cardioprotective effect independent of GH release (Locatelli et al., 1999).
